Arrangement related to water-cooled marine engines having at least one intake port 7 and at least one outlet port 8 for cooling water. The ports are intended for being situated below the surface of the water surrounding the vessel in which the engine is installed. Between the ports and the engine, a first and a second pipe 1, 2 is running for transporting the cooling water to be carried to and from the engine, respectively. A switching device may change the connection between the ports 7, 8 and the pipes 1, 2 in such a way that during a period of time, one port is connected to the first pipe and the other port to the second pipe, while during a subsequent period of time, one port is connected to the second pipe and the other port to the first pipe, etc. Impurities, which may have fastened at one port by suction when it has been active as an intake port, will hereby be flushed away when it acts as an outlet port during the subsequent period of time. <IMAGE> |
