The water-tight screen is formed in the ground by installing two parallel partitions about 1 to 10 metres apart and by injecting liquid sealant through a pipe into the soil between the partitions. Pipes are cast into the partitions and extend into bore holes drilled through the upper unstable rock down to the solid bedrock. Liquid sealant is then injected into the bore holes to fill the fissures in the rock. The arrangement provides a foundation for the core of a dam.
