PURPOSE:To enable two printing ribbons to be fed by a simple mechanism, by a method wherein a spike gear for a carbon ribbon and a driving gear for an ink ribbon are placed respecitvely at upper and lower positions, and are axially supported so that they are rotated as an integral body. CONSTITUTION:In the ribbon feeder 15, the driving gear 96 for the ink ribbon is axially supported at a lower surface of a lever 13 while the spike gear 97 for the carbon ribbon and a knob 98 are axially supported at an upper surface of the lever 13, in such a manner that they are coaxially rotated as an integral body. When a cassette of the carbon ribbon is mounted, the spike gear 97 is fitted into the cassette through a port of the cassette so that the carbon ribbon can be fed. When a cassette of the ink ribbon is mounted, a driven gear provided in the cassette and the driving gear 96 are meshed with each other so that the ink ribbon can be fed. A feed cam 73 is rotated by a half revolution by rotating a gear 58 and a gear 72, a large diameter part of the cam 73 rotates a feed lever 88 against the force of a spring 94, and the driving gear 96 and the spike gear 97 are rotated through the functions of a feed pawl 92 and a ratchet gear 93. |
