PURPOSE:To carry stepwise smoothly a reading mechanism without vibration, by making an arrangement that an electromagnetic brake is applied to the reading mechanism a little before a step-motor is to be stopped after the motor is started. CONSTITUTION:A reading mechanism 2 is driven by a step-motor 4 through transmitting members 5 and 8, and information on an original is read. An electromagnet 16 and a cylindrical slider 17 fitted to the casing 11 of the reading mechanism 2 is fitted freely slidably on a guide rail 3. When a brake current is impressed upon the electromagnet 16 a little before the motor 4 is to be stopped after the motor is started, the electromagnet 16 is attracted by the guide rail 3 and the driving of the motor 4 is braked. Therefore, the mechanism 2 quickly moves to a prescribed direction and stops there without generating any vibration, thus smooth stepwise carrying is realized. |
