PROCESS FOR PREPARING IMIDAZOLE COMPOUNDS

Prepn. of cpds. of formula (I) (where n is 1-5) comprises reaction of a 2-amino-2-cyano acetamide with an equimolar amount of a lower alkyl orthoformate, the resulting cpd. being reacted with an equimolar amount of erythro-3-amino-2-nonanol. The reaction is carried out in the presence of acetonitrile and pyridine. Pref. the product is reacted with an equimolar amount of phosgene to give cpds. of formula (II).
