In the processing of certain solids in gyratory centrifuges, the angle of adhesion which, by being exceeded, is known to be utilised to transport the solid on the inner surface of the screening drum depends on the degree of dehumidification of the solid. As a result, disadvantages arise in the customary screening drums with a uniform approach angle due to the excessively rapid transport of the solid at the open screening drum end. According to the invention, the approach angle is matched to the desired transport conditions at the open end of the screening drum and the transport in the rest of the screening drum area is brought about by a baffle which is attached to the hollow shaft and thus carries out a movement relative to the screening drum.
