The invention relates to a rate gyro, preferably for river boats, with a vehicle-fixed holder (12) which exhibits the reference input axis (10), a frame (24) which is rebalanced rotatably perpendicularly with respect to the input axis and elastically on the holder (12), the bearing pins (20, 22) of which form the output axis (14), a gyro rotor (15) supported rotatably on the holder (24) perpendicularly to the output axis (14) and perpendicularly to the input axis (10), the bearings of which gyro rotor form the running axis (26), and with a tap for generating a signal corresponding to the angular velocity of the holder (24) with respect to its support on the frame (12). So that the device measuring the torque does not also detect the elastic and plastic deformations in components adjoining the measuring sensor and displacements between measuring sensors and measuring device which are due to temperature differences, the following features should be used: for the elastic rebalancing of the frame (24) on the holder (12), a straight torsion rod (28), having the same axis as the output axis (14) and the inner end of which is rigidly connected to a bearing pin (22) of the frame (24) and the outer end of which is rigidly connected to the free leg of a mounting arm (30) connected to the holder (24) or formed in one piece therewith. The two ends of the torsion rod (28) carry two equally long lever arms (32, 34), the free ends of which carry the elements (36, 38) of a reaction-free tap which converts the relative movement of the lever arms (32, 34) with respect to one another into an electrical signal. <IMAGE>
