A heat-insulating body of a fine-particle heat-insulating material compacted by pressing, to which mineral fibres and opacifiers are added, has a surface which, even with the addition of a hardening binder, is mechanically susceptible, in particular not very abrasion-resistant and tends to crumble if the pressed material (4) is not pressed in a sheathing, for example of glass fabric. To overcome this disadvantage, at least one of the surfaces (4a) of the heat-insulating body (1) is provided with a laminating web (2) or a covering layer (2a). The laminating web (2) may be anchored in particular to the surface (4a) of the pressed material (4) by an adhesive which penetrates into the surface and forms there an adhesive layer (3). By means of a covering layer (2a) of appropriate layer thickness (d'), it is possible to compensate for unevennesses of the surface (4a) of the heat-insulating body (1). <IMAGE>
