An electrical capacitor is proposed, in particular a self-healing electrical capacitor with a coil (16) of metallised plastics film, which is held by a curable casting compound (18) inside a housing (10) closed by a cover (12). For curing the casting compound (18), the entire arrangement is turned so that the casting compound (18) cures in the part of the housing (10) facing the cover (12) and consequently at the same time forms a complete air seal and a mechanical fixing for the capacitor element (16). The part of the capacitor element (16) which in the end is not embedded in the casting compound (18) is protected against corrosion effects by coating of the casting compound. <IMAGE>
