Purification is carried out in the device according to the invention by means of anaerobic denitrification, aerobic activation and nitrification using a uniform activated sludge. Above the denitrification chamber, which is connected to the raw water feed, a separating chamber for fluid filtration is provided within the same tank, which separating chamber is connected to the outlet for purified water. The separating chamber is separated from the denitrification chamber with an inclined and, preferably, cone-shaped partition. The separating chamber is connected via a sludge discharge channel to the denitrification chamber, which is connected to an activation chamber, which is arranged in an adjoining tank with a preferably cylindrical shell and is provided with aeration elements.
