PURPOSE:To enable to prevent a heat-exchanging element from absorbing moisture and water from permeating through the element, by a method wherein the surface of a sheet or formed sheet consisting of inorganic fibers and a binder is coated with a glaze. CONSTITUTION:Inorganic fibers are formed into the shape of a sheet by a dry- type method or a wet-type method, the sheet is corrugated with an arbitrary crest height and crest-to-crest intervals by a corrugating machine, and a flat form sheet and the corrugated sheet are laminated with each other and are bonded to each other by an inorganic adhesive while winding up the laminate into a spiral form. The inorganic fibers are bonded to each other by impregnating the fibers with a binder and hardening the binder. After baking the sheet to burn organic substances, a glazing treatment is conducted, and a dense glaze layer is formed on the surface of the sheet by baking at a temperature which is higher than the melting point of the glaze but lower than the heat-resisting temperature of the inorganic fibers. Accordingly, the heat-exchanging element is prevented from absorbing moisture and water is prevented from permeating through the element. |
