In a road train consisting of a power unit and a trailer, the trailer draw bar, coupled to the power unit, of a trailer steering axle is supported in the region in front of the trailer coupling at the side by in each case at least one energy accumulator with progressive characteristic. When going round a bend, one of these energy accumulators accordingly exerts a continuously increasing restoring moment on the swivelling draw bar in the opposing direction, so that the jack knife angle between power unit and trailer is reduced to a maximum of 10 DEG and the relative movements, reduced in this way, between the two trailer train units permit vehicle a corresponding increase in the length of the loading surface.
