PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a fluid coupling, by causing a pump- handled fluid to flow into the coupling and by controlling the rate of the inflow of the fluid and mounting an impeller and a runner on the rotary shafts of a prime mover and a pump so that the impeller and the runner are supported by the bearings of the prime mover and the pump. CONSTITUTION:Water is caused to flow into an impeller 18, a runner 20 and a casing 19 through a water feed pipe 31 ramified from the discharge pipe 30 of a pump 21 and through a water feed port 24. The rate of the inflow of the water is regulated by a control valve 32 to equalize the discharge pressure of the pump 21 to a set level. The water ejected from the nozzles 19a of the casing 19 enters into the reservoir 26 of a container 23 and is then returned to a sucked water tank 28 and supplied again to the pump 21. The impeller 18 and the runner 20 are mounted on the rotary shaft 17 of a prime mover 16 and that 22 of the pump 21 respectively, so that torque is transmitted by the water. The rotary shafts 17, 22 extend through both the sides of the container 23 surrounding the impeller 18 and the runner 20 and are provided with water seals 25. |
