<p>The switch consists of an insulating housing in two halves inside which a rotating-arm switch, containing two sections makes separate closing contacts with the live and neutral lines. The two switch sections are separated by a common plane surface and each has a semi-cylindrical cavity (19,19) which encloses the body of a cartridge fuse. The switch halves are able to rotate about a common axis. Each half has an open and closed position and one half can be operated to close the neutral line independently of the live half. The two halves interlock such that, when the live switch half is closed it forces the neutral half to close also. The fuse has metal end caps which push-fit into springy metal contacts attached to the power terminals. Circuit contact is made by pushing two contacts together against the force of a spring. Only with the live switch open is the fuse accessible for removal. Live and neutral switch halves are made in different coloured plastics.</p> |
