A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines is proposed with a high pressure chamber, enclosed by a distributor pump plunger, which chamber can be connected to the fuel injection point by way of at least one feed duct. The distributor pump plunger has a distributor groove on its circumferential surface. The high pressure chamber can be connected to a fuel admission bore. A pressure relief valve, by way of which the high pressure chamber can be connected to the distributor groove, is provided radially in the distributor pump plunger. <IMAGE>
