PURPOSE:To obtain a photoreceptor having no accumulation of residual potential due to repeated uses and sufficient durability and exhibiting favorable electrophotographic characteristics, even if it is thinner than few mum, by providing a protective layer made of a specified inorganic substance on an org. photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:A protective layer made of ZrO2, MgF2, Si3N4; Al2O3, Si3N4; MgO, Si3N4; SiC or Si3N4; SiO2 is formed by sputtering or vapor deposition on a photosensitive layer contg. an org. photoconductive or consisting of a carrier generating layer 3 and a carrier transfer layer 4 formed on a support. A suitable mixing ratio of Al2O3, MgO, SiC, or SiO2 to Si3N4 is kept in 0-20%, and a preferable thickness of the protective layer is 0.01-10mum, most preferably 0.05-2mum. |
