PURPOSE:To prevent generation of blowholes on deposited metal by forming ventilating grooves in a specified sphere of a groove root face, and thereby reducing generation of gas pressure. CONSTITUTION:In butt welding, fillet welding etc., a welding groove on which one or more parallel grooves 11 1-5mm. in depth, 2-10mm. in width, >=3mm.<2> in sectional area and rectangular, arcuate, sphenoidal etc. in shape is provided on the root face 13 within 1-10mm. from the root 12 of incomplete penetration joint. Accordingly, gas in the root 12 is liberated and gas pressure of the root 12 is reduced to prevent generation of blowholes effectively. |
