The process, involving heating a material known to be capable of giving rise to plaster, is characterised in that the starting material employed is a product in the form of fine particles to which the following successive stages are applied: production of a mixture comprising the said fine particles and water, deposition of this mixture as a cake of controlled thickness, heating the said cake to a temperature of between approximately 250 DEG C and approximately 600 DEG C for a sufficient time to convert the starting material into a plaster, drying the product obtained with heating and disintegrating it to give rise to the new plaster in powder form. The invention also relates to the new plaster obtained according to the process and to its applications, especially in agriculture.
