This instrument can produce a given musical tone by establishing two memory devices. The first memory deivce(11) has plural memory sections capable of memorizing tones in digital signals. Control equipment reads information on tone color, and memorizes information about the appointment of a memory section in the second memory device(4). A tune generating apparatus(12) produces a musical sound according to information from assignment apparatuses(6,7,10).
