The plastics fastener elements(52) are made in a continuous string by moulding a heated polymer. Each fastener has a bar portion(56) connected by a transverse filament(52) to a spade portion(53). The bars have notches(57) to facilitate separation and the spades are connected by a continuous rib(54) medially of one surface. The mould may be in the form of a rotating wheel with moulding cavities on its periphery.
