The invention relates to a method and a device for manufacturing bridge structures, in particular railway bridges, with abutments manufactured on site and preferably a plurality of bridge slabs which bear a superstructure consisting e.g. of railway tracks and are moved, while leaving the superstructure, from a production location arranged outside the abutments to their site on the bridge abutments, on a trackway which crosses the superstructure, in which case, with the intention of reducing the focus required to move the bridge slabs and the effort involved in securing the superstructure during the movement phase of the bridge slabs, it is envisaged that each bridge slab be lifted out after its manufacture, and in order to move the bridge slabs over the superstructure a trackway incorporated in the latter be used, from which the bridge slab is lifted at its respective installation site, the part of the existing structure situated below it, including the trackway section assigned to the latter, is removed at least as far as the height of the bridge abutments, and then the bridge is set down upon the latter, after which the superstructure is reconstructed.
