The invention relates to a gearbox consisting of a multi-speed main gearbox and a splitter group connected to the input of the latter and having two driving gearwheels, one of which can be coupled to the input shaft of the gearbox and the other drive can selectively also be coupled to the main shaft of the gearbox. Such a gearbox forms the subject-matter of Patent Application P 3049101.1. In this, the splitter group forms a fixed part of the main gearbox. In an embodiment with power division via two layshafts, load compensation is achieved by means of a radially movable input shaft. The object on which the invention is based is to create a gearbox with a splitter group connected to the input as a separate subassembly. In one embodiment of such a gearbox with power division via two layshafts, separate devices are provided for load compensation in the main gearbox and the splitter group. In contrast to the abovementioned gearbox, the gearbox according to the invention contains a fixedly supported input shaft. As embodiments of the two devices for load compensation, the splitter group has two double-gear blocks mounted on the layshafts so as to be rotatable and axially displaceable between prestressed springs (20), the two gears of which are provided with toothing of different helix angles and are in engagement with the two driving gearwheels (6 and 7). One (7) of the two driving gearwheels of the splitter group can be coupled to the main shaft (2) via a gearwheel (14) connected to it for rotation in common and mounted in radially movable fashion on the main shaft (2). <IMAGE>
