PURPOSE:To detect status changes of originating and terminating terminals quickly to reduce the contention of the switching processing, by monitoring the status change of the terminating terminal through a service path by an originating terminal interface device. CONSTITUTION:When a terminal 10i originates a call, an incoming request signal is transmitted to an interface 11 storing a terminating terminal 11j through a bus 101. A controller 11c transmits an incoming signal to the terminating terminal 11j and closes a gate Gj to connect the terminal 11j and a time division channel 1. The incoming response signal of the terminal 11j is detected through the channel 1 by a monitor circuit KNi of an originating-side interface 10 and is sent to a controller 10c. The controller 10c transmits an incoming ID signal to the terminal 10i and transmits an originating ID signal to the interface 11 through the bus 101. The controller 11c reports it to the terminal 11j and reports the acceptance completion to the controller 10c. The controller 10c connects the terminal 10j to the channel 1 by a gate Gi and an inserting circuit ITj.
