Novel sulphosuccinamates useful as ingredients of rubber latex compositions are alkyl alkoxy sulphosuccinamates of the formula: <IMAGE> wherein R represents an alkyl or alkaryl group having from 7 to 18 carbon atoms, and comprising an aliphatic carbon chain which is branched at at least one point, one of X and Y represents a hydrogen atom and the other represents a sulphite group, n is an integer having a value of from 0 to 5 and R1 represents an alkylene group comprising 2 or 3 carbon atoms. These sulphosuccinamates are useful as foaming agents in the formulation of rubber latex compositions which comprise an aqueous dispersion of a natural or synthetic rubber latex and a foaming agent. They combine the virtues of acceptable foaming properties with relatively high solubility in aqueous solution. They can be prepared and transported as aqueous concentrates containing up to 45% of solids material. |
