PURPOSE:To dephosphorize and desulfurize molten iron at a low cost without leaving any problem in slag treatment by adding a mixed or alloyed flux contg. BaCl2, BaO and chromium oxide as essential components to molten iron contg. chromium. CONSTITUTION:A mixed or alloyed flux contg. BaCl2, BaO and chromium oxide as essential components is added to molten iron contg. chromium. Then, the phosphorus in the molten iron can be oxidized by the chromium oxide of weak oxidizing power with substantially no loss of chromium. The produced P2O5 is stabilized by the highly basic molten slag contg. BaO, whereby the molten iron can be dephosphorized. At the same instant thereof, it is possible to progress desulfurization by the slag having high basicity and relatively low oxygen potential. |
