A bed base has a frame (1) and a support (2) consisting of transversely directed, adjacent panel elements (3A, 3B, 3C, 4A, 4B, 5). The panel elements are preferably combined in two groups (3, 4), in that each group comprises in each case two (4A, 4B) or more (3A, 3B, 3C) panel elements which are connected to one another by a lever system (8 or 6, 7) and to the bearing frame, such that a vertical movement of the one panel element (4A) produces a vertical movement of the other panel element (4B) in the opposite direction about the axis of rotation (8c) of the lever system. The panel elements of the group can also rotate freely about their axis of rotation (8a, 8b) on the lever system. The panel elements of the two groups form a swing board construction, which causes the shape of the support to be adjusted in accordance with the body shape of the person sleeping irrespective of the lying position. <IMAGE> |
