PURPOSE:To prevent dead grains and to improve graininess and color purity, by reducing silver iodide content in silver iodobromide, and using a development inhibitor releasing (DIR) compound. CONSTITUTION:An iodobromide emulsion containing <=4mol% silver iodide is used for every multilayered color photographic emulsion layers, and a DIR compound for releasing an inhibitor upon reacting with the oxidized product of a color developing agent is contained in at least one emulsion layer. Use of silver iodobromide containing a small amount of silver iodide alone reduces sensitivity as compared with the use of silver iodobromide containing ordinary 7-8mol%, but it is improved by use of a small amount of DIR compound, thus permitting an image to have higher quality than a photosensitive material having the same sensitivity, and use of a monodispersion emulsion to raise effect remarkably, presumably due to the difference in sensibility to action of the inhibitor. |
