PURPOSE:To obtain a cast body havng less non-metallic inclusions and no surface flaws by making the rotating magnetic field of an electromagnetic rotary coil strong and fast to rotate the molten steel in the lower part of a mold faster and decelerating the rotation of the molten metal surface in the mold by the rotating magnetic field in the direction opposite from that of a braking coil. CONSTITUTION:On the outer side of a mold 1, a braking coil 2b is provided above an electromagnetic rotary coil 2a, and the rotating magnetic field of the coil 2b is made opposite from the rotating magnetic field of the coil 2a. Here, the rotating magnetic field of the coil 2a is made strong and fast to rotate the lower part of the molten steel in the mold 1 fast enough non-metallic inclusions 4 to gather at the center. On the other hand, the rotation of the molten metal surface 7 in the mold 1 is decelerated by the rotating magnetic field in the direction opposite from that of the coil 2b, whereby the rate of waving of the surface 7 near the corners of the inside wall of the mold 1 is decreased. |
