An injection moulding machine (10) comprises an injection device (12) for heating and melting the material to be moulded and for injecting the molten material into mould cavities formed by a fixed mould half (20) and a movable mould half (22 or 23) and a mould closing device (14) for closing and separating the fixed mould half (22) and the movable mould half (22 or 23). The fixed mould half (20) is mounted on a fixed plate (16) which is arranged in the vicinity of the injection device (12) and the movable mould half (22 or 23) is mounted on a movable plate (18) which is provided close to the mould closing device (14). The mould closing device (14) is movable in a horizontal direction. On the movable plate (18), there is provided a carriage (24) which can be displaced in a horizontal direction which is different from the direction of movement of the mould closing device (14). The movable mould half (22) and a further movable mould half (23) are mounted on the carriage (24) such that, when the carriage (24) is displaced, they can be brought alternately into a position opposite the fixed mould half (20). <IMAGE>
