A housing (26) is mounted on each section of a multi-section folding frame (12) in trailing relation to a depending earth working tool such as a cultivator shank (22) or seed drill by horizontal upper (42) and lower (56) links having their forward ends pivoted to the tool shank and their rear ends pivoted to the housing. A driven power input shaft (78) is journaled in the upper portion of the housing and a output shaft (82) is journaled in the lower portion of the housing. The shafts have sprocket wheels (80, 84) interconnected by a chain (86) trained thereabout and a (horizontally) shiftable and spring (106) biased idler sprocket wheel (98) is engaged with one of the reaches of the chain extending between the sprocket wheels for tensioning the chain. A rod weeder shaft (110) has one end supported from the output shaft and extends through trailing journal structures (113) mounted for limited vertical shifting relative to additional laterally spaced depending tools (20). Generally horizontal front-to-rear extending connecting links (56) are pivotally connected between the journal structures and the corresponding tool lower end portions and the journal structures include vertically spaced transverse bores (114) formed therethrough in which pivot pins (118) are received for selective vertical adjustment of the pivot connections between the journal structures and the rear ends of the links extending between the journal structures and the associated tool shanks. Packer wheels (132) may be mounted on the rod weeder shaft. The input shaft is driven by a reversible and variable speed hydraulic motor (76), with the motors on all the sections connected in series. |
