PURPOSE:To sort and stack sheets, by a method wherein a clamping member for clamping a sheet between itself and a conveying belt and imparting nerve to the sheet is provided, and the difference between the friction between the sheet and the clamping member and that between the sheet and the belt is utilized. CONSTITUTION:The conveying belt 10 consists of two belts 10a, 10b, which are fitted between a driving roller 12 and a driven roller 13. The clamping member 11 consists of a belt fitted around rollers 14, 15 or consists of a leaf spring, and is located between the belts 10a, 10b. The belts 10a, 10b and the clamping member 11 clamp the sheet 16 therebetween and impart nerve to the sheet 16. The sheet 16 is conveyed by moving the belts 10a, 10b while using the difference between the friction between the sheet 16 and the belt 10 and that between the sheet 16 and the member 11, and is conveyed onto a tray 7i or 8i through a deflecting guide 19 and a deflector 9. |
