Trapezoidal section framed lobster pot - uses wider side as base with side hung bolted door fitted to conical inlet and bait fasteners forming top

The framed pot or trap used by lobster fishermen has a trapezoidal cross section (1,4), with two sides of equal length. The face formed by the long side (1,4) of the cross section constitutes the base (1,5,8,4), the opposite top face (2,6,7,3) incorporating a side-hung door. The door edge (3,7) remote from the hinged edge is lockable by a central handled pivot bolt (10), the door being fitted with a conical lobster inlet (9) together with bait-fasteners (14). The dimensions of the door are such that all corners of the pot are accessible when it is open. Bait is placed behind the entry on the open door. The pivot bolt has an inclined axle (21) with the handle (26) located to provide a self-closing couple.
