The fire-protection device is used to protect a wide variety of buildings, which are located in the vicinity or on the edge of wooded areas or heathland, for at least some time, when there is a danger of fire, from the fire spreading by sparks flying. The fire-protection device has, for this purpose, a pressure vessel which is filled partly with water, as extinguishing liquid, and partly with a compressed gas. The pressure vessel is connected, via a connection line, to a series of spraying nozzles which are arranged at a suitable point on the object to be protected from fire. In the connection line there is provided a controlled outlet valve which can be opened by one or more temperature sensors on said object by means of an actuating device. A float valve prevents the compressed gas from blowing out. The fire-protection device is independent of the local water-protection system. It may, however, be connected thereto via a non-return valve and be filled up again from said system.
