PURPOSE:To obtain a die for metal plastic work which has improve durability by connecting the surface metallic layer of a hard metallic material to the base metallic layer of a soft metallic material metallurgically while specifying a mutual relation between structural directions. CONSTITUTION:A surface metallic layer 1 having a cavity 11 is made of a hard metallic material, such as high-speed tool steel, which has large resistance to deforming work force. A base metallic layer 2, on the other hand, is formed of a material, such as spring steel, softer than the surface metallic layer 1. Said layers are connected in such a way that the structure directions of both the layers 1 and 2 are at right angles to the operating direction of deforming work force, and the projection intersecting angle is 0-90 deg., thus obtaining a die for metal plastic work. This structure prevents the cavity 11 from deforming when the deforming work force is applied to a metallic material to be worked, and impulsive deforming work force applied to the surface layer 1 is buffered by the base metallic layer 2. This cushion effect suppresses an advance in the destruction of the die. |
