A flexible driving cable, which is intended, in particular, for driving movable body parts of motor vehicles and is guided in a longitudinally displaceable manner in a guide tube which keeps it rigid in compression and in tension, consists of a core made of cabling and a helical working winding formed from wire, wound thereover in a manner fixed against displacement and intended for the engagement of a pinion. A resiliently flexible, friction- and noise-reducing interlayer with small dimensional tolerances, made from a polymer foam, is applied to the driving cable and occupies the space between the latter and the guide tube. It is possible either for the driving cable to be completely sheathed in this layer of polymer foam or just the exposed circumferential surface of the working winding. <IMAGE>
