PURPOSE:To make it possible to improve the utility, life, and high discharge performance of a nickel electrode by conducting copper plating in a nickel electrode for alkaline battery, then conducting nickel plating thereon. CONSTITUTION:Copper plating is conducted on the surface of a nickel electrode, especially a nonsintered nickel electrode, then nickel plating is conducted thereon. The amount of copper plating is enough only to give conductivity to the electrode for efficient nickel plating. After nickel plating, the copper layer is preferable to oxidize to copper oxide by charge and to dissolve in alkaline solution. By using this process, nickel layer is easily formed by either way of electrode plating or electroplating and no additional layer is necessary. Therefore, decrease in energy density in the nickel electrode is prevented, and the utility of nickel active material, the life, and the high rate discharge performance can be improved. |
