<p>A method for the processing of titanium-containing feedstock e.g. limenite or arizonite for obtaining high-titanium slags and alloyed low- carbon cast iron comprises melting titanium-containing feedstock in the presence of a reducing agent (anthracite), as well as in the presence of titanium metal and/or a titanium- containing material which comprises a titanium alloy or a residue of unchlorinated titanium slags which is formed in the production of titanium tetrachloride and which consists of titanium slag and petroleum coke, the titanium metal and/or titanium- containing material being used in an amount of from 7 to 13% by weight of starting components. The melting is conducted with the formation of a gaseous phase over the surface of the starting feedstock, with the temperature of the gaseous phase being from 500 to 900 DEG C and the pressure being from 0.1 to 0.2 mm H2O.</p> |
