In the case of a locking device for a bicycle a tube holder is provided which is U-shaped and has a bar which is hinged to one of its outer ends and is intended for closing and opening the open side of the U. This bar has a first opening extending parallel to the swivel axis and a second opening which runs perpendicularly from the first opening to that end of the bar which is remote from the hinged end. In the closing position of the bar, one limb of the U-shaped tube holder is located in the vicinity of the second opening of the bar. It has an opening which is flush with the second opening. A locking device of this type can be locked by a conventional cable lock, it being possible to introduce the head of the cable lock into that opening of the bar which runs parallel to the hinge pin, whereas the pin of the lock can be pushed through that opening of the bar which runs perpendicularly thereto and that opening of the U-shaped tube holder which is flush with the latter, and connected to the head in a locking manner. By this means, the hinged bar is locked, the locking action also remaining effective if the cable is severed. The lock part of the cable remains in the locking device and cannot be removed without further action.
