<p>The present invention relates to a novel class of phenanthro-imidazole compounds. The invention discloses that compounds of the formula: where n = 0-2; R1 = -CF2H, - CF3 or -CF2CHmF3-m in which m = 0-3; R2 = -B, -CHOR4, 2-tetrahydropyranyl, 2- tetrahydrofuranyl, ,, or , provided that when R2=, , or - , then n = ? R3 = -H or -CH3; R4 = C1-3 alkyl, benzyl, -CH2CH20CH3 or R5 = C1-4 alkyl or benzyl; X1 and Y1 are independently selected from the group consisting of -H, -F, -C1, dimethylamino and C1 2 alkoxy; X2 and Y2 are independently selected from the group consisting of -H, -F and -C1; Y3 is -H, -P, -C1, -Br, C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy or -N02; and, when R2 = -H, a pharmaceutically suitable acid salt when n - 0 or pharmaceutically suitable metal salts when n = 1-2, the compounds are useful a antiinflammatory agents.</p> |
