Novel substituted 5-(fluoro-tert-butyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl ureas of the general formula <IMAGE> in which X<1> and X<2> represent hydrogen or fluorine, R<1> represents hydrogen or alkyl, R<2> represents hydrogen or alkyl, R<3> represents alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, haloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl or alkoxy; optionally substituted aryl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl; and haloalkyl carbonyl, R<2> and R<3> together represent the groups -(CH2)n- or -(CH2)2-Y-(CH2)2 -, in which Y represents oxygen or a methylamino radical, and n represents the integers 4 and 5, a range of processes and novel intermediates for their preparation, their use as herbicides, herbicidal compositions containing these active substances, and the preparation of these herbicidal compositions.
