<p>An apparatus for regenerating used activated carbon particles, comprising a desorption furnace (11) forming a first half of a regeneration furnace wherein a desorption reaction of desorbing absorbed materials from used activated carbon particles is conducted through heating by an electric heating means, and a reactivation furnace (12) forming a second half of the regeneration furnace wherein a regeneration reaction is conducted by adding steam under heating, maintaining optimal conditions for the respective reactions by separately controlling voltages applied to electrode plates (17) and (38) in respective furnaces, providing more rocking or vibrating of said particles in said desorption furnace (11) than in said reactivation furnace (12) by means of either rocking mechanism (25), (26) and (29) or vibration mechanism (36), and conducting said addition of steam for the reactivation reaction only in said reactivation furnace, thus effectively and uniformly regenerating activated carbon particles while minimizing abrasion of the particles themselves.</p> |
