PURPOSE:To prevent wastefull feeding of a ribbon, by driving a ribbon feed driving member only at a time when a carriage forwards based on a printing signal and corresponding to the moving distance. CONSTITUTION:If a type wheel performs a type selection, a cam plate 62 moves downward based on excitation of a second solenoid 61, and a rocking plate 56 rocks through a follower 64 through the action of a cam surface 62b. Thereby, a cartridge holder 35 is rocked down to a position where it is checked by an arm stopper 39 of a carriage 33, and a collection ribbon 38 between ribbon spools 36 is positioned facing and opposite to a printing surface of a platen 31. Through rocking of the cartridge holder 35 to a collection position, a feed claw is turned to engage a latchet wheel, and the collection ribbon 38 is fed by a length for one complete printing through spinning of the spools. |
