The push-button switch, which is especially suitable for the construction of keyboards for office machines and the like, consists essentially of a pot-shaped housing which can possibly be constructed in two pieces and whose pot edge is sealed by means of the pushbutton. The upper end of a restoring spring is supported in the interior of the pushbutton, its lower end resting on a bent limb of a contact element and preferably being held against lateral deflection by an integrally-formed or fitted retaining element. The other bent limb of the supporting element rests on a shaft wall which has a step-shaped shoulder which allows sudden tilting in the direction of the arrow when the pushbutton is depressed in the direction of said arrow. The movable contacts can be fitted on either one or the other bent limb of the contact element. The stationary contacts are then positioned accordingly. The latter can be passed through to the exterior and form connecting elements, or can be part of a printed-circuit board. In order to create a keyboard, a plurality of such switch housings are produced integrally with a covering panel or are anchored therein. Located underneath the individual bases is a base panel, which preferably carries the stationary contacts.
