The invention specifies a long-distance heat transfer system with supply and return lines, preferably for supply temperatures of below 373 DEG K. In order to improve the efficiency of such long-distance heat transfer systems and to be able to use inexpensive materials, the hot supply line is embedded in a protective insulation with low diffusion resistance and is protected from the penetration of surface water by a covering.
