PURPOSE:To perform head choke detection for a magnetic head surely and to prevent failure in recording, by restarting recording after a magnetic tape is rewound for a prescribed amount during the signal recording, reproduced for a prescribed time and displayed for the presence of a reproducing signal. CONSTITUTION:In recording video on a magnetic tape 10 through turning on a recording switch 1, when a temporary stop which 2 turns on, a control signal from an AND circuit 3 is applied to a capstan control circuit 4, a capstan 8 is reversed and the tape 10 is rewound for the prescribed amount and stopped. In this state, when the switch 2 is reoperated and the temporary stop is released, the capstan 8 is forwarded at constant speed with the control signal from the circuit 3 and a recording control circuit 5 selects the reproducing signal for the prescribed time with an incorporated timer. The presence/absence of the reproducing signal is displayed on a display 17 via a signal detection circuit 16 and the recording is restarted after a prescribed time. Thus, the head choke of the magnetic head can surely be detected and recording failure due to the head choke can be prevented. |
