PURPOSE:To absorb wave motion energy of machining liquid and prevent its scattering, in the above described device performing electric discharge machining while applying relative movement between an electrode and a work, by providing a porous or multi-fiber layer in the internal wall of a machining tank. CONSTITUTION:A machining tank 8 in an electric discharge machining device is provided on an X-table 12 and Y-table 15, and its movement can be performed on the XY tables. In the machining tank 8, machining liquid 9 is filled to a level higher than that of an electrode 3 and a work 4. Here a wave absorbing layer 19, consisting of porous or multi-fiber material, is provided in an internal wall of the machining tank 8, and its upper and lower positions can be adjusted by an adjusting bolt 20. Wave motion energy, caused by movement of the XY tables, in the machining liquid is absorbed by this wave absorbing layer 19, and the machining liquid can be prevented from such a state that it collides directly against the internal wall of the machining tank to scatter to the outside of the machining tank. |
