PURPOSE:To provide an optical system temperature detector which eliminates the need for an external power source, by a method wherein temperature is detected by performing a photo modulation by means of an output of a photo electromotive force element of which a temperature-sensitive substance consists. CONSTITUTION:If a photo electromotive force element, whereon CdTe is vacuum-deposited obliquely, is irradiated with light by a controlling light source via an optical fiber, a voltage corresponding to ambient temperature is generated. Through the control of an electric optical crystal 7 such as LiNbO3 by means of the voltage, the degree of modulation of a glow modulator 4, consisting of the crystal 7, a polarizer 8, a 1/4 wavelength plate 9, and an analyzer 10, varies with temperature, and an input light 5 produces an output light 6, modulated corresponding to temperature, to detect temperature. This obtains an optical system temperature detector which eliminate the need for an external power source. |
