Ciphalosporins(I; Z = 4-pyridyl, 3-pyridyl, 2-pyridyl; M = K or Na alkali metal, H) were prepd. by the reaction of II(X = halogen) and III in the presence of tetrabutylammonium bromide Thus, 3.93 g bcomoacet amidocephalosporanic acid and 1.0 g triethylamine in 40ml methylene chloried were reacted woth am aq. soln. contg. 1.2 g 4-mercaptopyridine ane 1.7 g sodium bicarbonate at 40≦̸C for 30 min in the presence of 322 mg tetrabutylammonium bromide, and adjusted to pH 3 to give 3.96 g 7-≮α- 4-pyridylthio)acetamido≉cephalosporanic acid.
