PURPOSE:To accurately remove an imaging plate (IP) which has a stain flaw, etc., by providing an IP decision part which detects identification information on an IP and discriminates an IP with a surface defect and an IP selection part which selects and removes the IP with the surface defect based on the discrimination result. CONSTITUTION:The IP discrimination part 13 fetches surface information (flaw, stain, number of times of utilization) on each of an optional number of imaging plates which are detected previously and also detected identification information on respective imaging plates before they are loaded in an IP cassette. Then, imaging plates having surface defects such as a flaw and a stain among the respective imaging plates are discriminated by using the relation between the identification information and surface information and the discrimination results are sent to the IP selection part 14. The IP selection part 14 selects and removes the imaging plates having the surface defects based on the discrimination results before they are put in the IP cassette.
