A displacable inner cable to be arranged in an outer sleeve and serving as an actuating element has a core and, on the outside, teeth which are formed by at least one metal wire wound in a helix around the outer surface of the core. Arranged between the adjacent teeth is a hollow elastic element in order to prevent sliding contact between the teeth and the sleeve during operation of the cable, thus making it possible to operate the cable without generating noise.
